Ta-ri Book Discussions--details to be announced

We are in the midst of planning our first book discussion gathering. Book selections will vary in topic and genre (fiction/nonfiction, adult/teen/child, etc.), but will all connect with Korea in some way. At each discussion, we'd like to bring in someone with a personal connection to the material. If you have ideas for what books should be featured in some of our early gatherings, let us know!

World Language Instructors Needed

A local school district wants to expand its elementary students' exposure to world languages by offering an after school program.  They seek individuals willing and qualified to teach an introductory language course outside of the regular school day.  While full details are still being worked out, funding has been secured for the instructional time period.  For more information, contact:

Census Job Opportunity

The Philadelphia Regional Census Center is seeking qualified applicants to fill over 25 positions in PA, , DE, MD, DC and in 11 southern counties of NJ.  We are turning to our past and current partnerships to help find qualified applicants for these important and attractive-paying jobs with the Census Bureau.

Partnership Specialists are charged with developing partnerships with local, state and community- and faith-based entities, schools, businesses, media, and grassroots organizations.  These partnerships will help create a responsive environment when census questionnaires go to households in Spring 2010.

For some Partnership positions, the Census Bureau seeks applicants who have professional and/or volunteer experience developing partnerships in African American, Hispanic/Latino, Mexican, Asian and other minority communities and cultures.  Specific cultural and/or language requirements (for example, proficiency in Spanish) are noted in the Recruiting Bulletins (job announcement.

Postings for Partnership positions are available at www.usajobs.com  or on the Census Bureau website at www.census.gov/rophi/www until November 12, 2008.  To receive consideration, an applicant must submit a complete application packet to the Philadelphia Regional Census Center by the application deadline specified in the recruiting announcement.

Moreover, from Fall 2008 through Spring 2009, the Philadelphia Regional Census Center will be seeking about 54,000 applicants in our five-state region to help build address lists in pre-census operations.  The Census Bureau will use the address lists to mail out 2010 Census questionnaires.  Postings for these positions will be available at www.census.gov/rophi/www in November 2008.
