This is Ta-ri's largest
event of the year, co-sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs at
Harrisburg Area Community
College. Here's just some of the fun that is in
store:
- Food booth--The Korean-American Wives' Club has agreed to hold
their fall fundraiser at the Celebration, with some of the proceeds
benefiting Ta-ri as well. Come prepared to feast on bulgogi, fried rice,
steamed vegetables, ya-ki mandu, kimbap, bin-da-tug (mung bean
pancakes), fruit, and drinks. Kimchi will be available as well.
Chusok Story--Listen to the
story of Sori's Chusok, then participate in our "On the Spot" Chusok
interviews. Copies of this wonderful children's book can be purchased at
the Celebration.
- P
erformances--You'll get to see
a number of songs and styles of music during the Celebration. Learn the
mask dance and be a part of a special Chusok song called Kang Gang
Sullae.
Hanbok parade--All are welcome
to wear hanbok to this event, which will include some basic explanation
of the traditional clothes and a parade. Some hanboks will be available
to try on as well. Help is needed for this activity, both on the day of
the event and in advance in terms of sorting and labeling hanboks.
Chopsticks
Competition--Practice at home for this fun--and funny--activity.
Items for
Sale--Books, ornaments, small
drums, fans, and other Korean items can be
purchased.

Volunteers are still needed for photography and
setup/teardown.
We also need help with hanbok preparation and with the
hanbok parade.
